M&M FundraiserWe have a simple way for you to help out the band. At the Christmas concert there will be a table set up for you to check out a M&M Mini's tube. Enjoy the candy inside. Over the holiday, place your spare quarters in the tube until it is full. By January 10th, we would like all containers returned to the band hall. This is great way to help the band come up with money to operate in the spring semester when budget is getting low (gone!). Each tube holds approximately $14.00 in quarters. The tubes also hold checks and cash...see how much you can stuff into it!

Not to toot our own horn or anything....
The Aledo Middle School Band did GREAT at the TMEA Region 7 Honor Band Auditions!! Every year the AMS band participates in the Texas Music Educators - Region 7 Middle School Honor Band Auditions. This is our big fall project. Students work on a couple of pieces of music and scales. They perform for a panel of judges and the best are selected to represent their school in the Region Honor Band concert. This year we did wonderful!! We have 51 kids that will be representing our band at the Honor Band Concert on December 9th at Weatherford H.S. These fine musicians worked very hard to earn their place in this ensemble. We took 117 very qualified musicians to this audition. All of our kids were prepared and should be very proud of their accomplishment. To let you know what an accomplishment we made, here are a few statistics for you. This year Aledo Middle School alone will seat 1/4 of the two region bands. The school with the next most kids will bring 35 to the concert. That has to make you proud!! Good job to every student who worked and auditioned for the honor band. We are very proud of you whether you made the band or not. There is always next year :-)

| Concert Band Uniforms Go home November 27-28 | |
Adjusting the hem... You will need to adjust the hem of the tuxedo pant to fit your child's height. Please make sure you do not cut off the extra hem material. These pants will have to be used for many years and for a variety of kids. Also, avoid using a fuseable interfacing (iron-on hem tape) to keep the hem in place...this stuff is hard to remove and is not a very temporary solution. Uniform Pieces... The following pieces are included in your uniform:
- Tuxedo Pant (dry clean only)
- Tuxedo Vest (dry clean only)
- Tuxedo Shirt (launder - heavy starch)
- Black Bow Tie (not included in saxophone uniforms)
You will need to purchase BLACK Dress Shoes and socks to complete the uniform. You don't have to spend a fortune on these...any discount black shoe will be fine. Make sure you have black socks. No high heals and no athletic shoes. There is no appropriate style of Crocks for a concert band uniform. If there is a problem with the fit of your child's uniform, please contact Mr. Ganus several days before the Christmas concert. Region Band participants You will need your uniform ready by Saturday, December 9th. You will wear them at the Region Band Concert that evening.
