Did You Know?

The Clarinet:
In about 1700, the clarinet was created and developed by Johann Christoph Denner, It was in the middle of the 18th century that the clarinet had become an indispensable instrument for every orchestra. Since then many important compositions for clarinet recitals and chamber music have been written. In jazz, the clarinet is a very popular instrument nowadays.

Welcome Back!

Welcome back to another wonderful year in the Aledo Middle School Band! Your directors have a lot of musical things in store for you this year. We want to make this year a very musical experience for everyone who can hear us!

One of our most exciting new things this year is the addition of a new staff member. Mr. Albin has moved to the High School to be a full time assistant in the Marching Band. We have hired a man who has been working closely with the Aledo Band Program for the last two years.

WELCOME MR. JOEY QUALLS!

Mr. Qualls comes to us as a recent graduate of UTA. He did his practice teaching with us last spring and has been working with our High School Drumline and teaching private lessons in Aledo for the last two years. Mr. Qualls will be directing the second Concert Band at the Middle School as well as teaching beginner and high school percussion. Mr. Qualls is an excellent teacher and will bring a wonderful new voice to your band director team.

This, of course, is your monthly newsletter. The majority of you are receiving this in your email inbox. We hope that the information we provide is timely and accurate. If you have any questions about where your child is supposed to be and at what time (wearing what), this is probably the best place to find out. The next best place would be our website: www.aledoband.com.

Eighth graders who still have their Foundations book do not need to purchase another. Also, we are using the same polo shirt as last year…so if your orange polo still fits, you will only need the T-shirt.
